Fond Farewells

Yesterday was my last day of teaching (for a while anyway). I have been made full-time at the University and as such I can’t work at the school I was at. It was a little bit of a bugger, and I felt sad, but c’est la vie, no? Before I left I had a quick drive around the town (with my trusty camera in tow) and took the following shots.

Now for those readers that have never been (or heard of) Emmaville, it’s a very interesting place. It was a huge mining town at the end of the 19th century when tin and arsenic lodes were discovered. Mining isn’t done there now, and it’s biggest claim to fame is the Emmaville Panther, a large black cat that has had many sightings (myself being one a month or two ago). It’s not on any main roads – and because of this it can (and should) be considered to be a hamlet that is protected from the world around it. If you’re up and around the area go and have a look – if only to take some photos and peruse the mining museum.

It is here where I must give thanks to the awesome people at Emmaville Central School – they let me do two of my practicum's there, gave me a job as a casual both before I got a full-time job and after my time in Broken Hill left me shell-shocked and without any faith in my abilities. I will miss both the students and staff.

In other news one of my SD cards fell apart in my hands today. I noticed that some of the outside plastic case was missing when I pulled it out of my D5000 and with a very small amount of force the rest of it came apart. Here’s a picture of it:

card shit

Pretty full-on, eh?
